Happy New Year - 2010

We had our New Year's Eve party again this year. We had quite the turn out. Davy roasted a pig and we got a pallet of fireworks. We also purchased a lot of fireworks for the kids to enjoy. The bonfire seemed to be a big hit for the teenage crowd. The sparklers attracted the preschoolers and boy were there a lot of preschool aged children to enjoy them. The kids rooms looked more like classrooms than bedrooms. We enjoyed our regular guests Jennifer, Jude, Alyssa, and Mia. Jennifer and Ali and Avery also returned. Im glad Ellen, Todd, Andrew and Ryan were able to come. I think the biggest surprise guest was Susan and her parents and Im so glad they were able to bring in the New Year with us! The guest list is entirely to long to include everyone. It is so nice to bring in the New year with family and friends! I love the holidays, but I am very glad to have a break from all of our holiday gatherings. Goodbye to 2009....Hello 2010!

Christmas Day!

Santa definately made it to the Broussard household this year. I'm beginning to think he may have had to purchase a second sleigh just to haul all of Jayden and Lauren's presents! This is the first year that Jayden truly anticipated Santa coming. He went to bed easily so that Santa could hurry up and make it to his house. I woke up to get my new camera ready and I guess he heard me roll out of bed. I peeked through his door and asked if he thought Santa had passed yet? He took off running down the hall! Santa brought him a skateboard with a ramp, a boxing bag with gloves, a car mat, a new saddle with rope, a yellow Transformer, and a Truck and horse trailor. We can not fail to mention the LSU helmet and uniform which he wore the entire day. Lauren woke up right after Jayden had finished going through all of his presents and Santa didnt leave her out. She got a new baby named Rosie, a baby stroller and pack and play, and a large doll house with all the furnishings. She also got a ride and go horse which of course was named peanut after the real outside horse. We celebrated Christmas Day with all of my family as well as Dave's sister Ann and his Mom. Davy cooked not one but two turkeys! We had plenty of food and enjoyed spending time with everyone. Nana, Pawpaw Cletus, Coby, Sheryl and Zach all stayed until the evening and everyone enjoyed a tournament of sorts with Zach's new hunting game that hooks up to the T.V. We are truly blessed to have family to share these memories with.

Christmas Eve

With so many photos to choose from I decided to break down Christmas into our different family celebrations. We always celebrate Christmas Eve with Davy's Dad and StepMom Mrs. Ellen. We usually have it at thier house but for the first time in at least 14 years the location has changed. ( I say 14 years because thats how long Davy and I have been together and we have celebrated every Christmas Eve at the Broussard's household!) This year they asked us to host it at our house. So we kept the traditional Gumbo menu and enjoyed a night with all of Davy's family. Christmas Eve was always a night Full of presents. This year the highlight seemed to be the fish that Aunt/Nanny Sissy gave as gifts. Jayden named his Nemo-T-Boy Broussard and Lauren named her's Dorie, although it sounds more like Dorothy! I got a new camera and lots of items to decorate my new kitchen with. Davy got everything hunting related. Jayden picked out a beautiful fountain for me and is so proud when I plug it in! Lauren got lots of furniture for a doll house that Santa will be bringing. They both went to bed in anticipation of Santa Claus passing that night! Jayden made sure to leave out cookies for him in hopes that Santa would leave one behind for him.....

Rush to the finish line!

We have been extra busy this holiday season, with hosting Thankgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and our New Years Party my husband decided in addition to all of this we were going to undergo a Kitchen "redo" I love the outcome and everyone has been asking us to post pics so here is the "finished" product!

Much to be Thankful for.....

Wow, how the holidays seem to rush by....It has been busy around the Broussard household. My husband suggested we get new countertops for the kitchen. He suggested granite and of course I was onboard. However, little did I know that they would be installed the week before we hosted Thanksgiving. I guess I survived however, after mopping up sheet rock dust and tile and grout around the house, I have beautiful new countertops! Of course the new countertops and black splash make our cabinets look a little outdated so I guess it's on to project number 2.

We hosted a Thanksgivig dinner on Wednesday for all of Davy's employees. He cooked a turkey and then did it again today to have both of our families with us to celebrate the hoilday. I am reminded how thankful I am for such a great family. Jayden and Lauren are excited that tomorrow brings the beginning of the Christmas holidays with the start of us buying our tree and hanging lights and decorations! Jayden is growing up right before my eyes. He has made not only one but two trips to the "duck" camp. This is also a milestone for Davy as this is the first time he has complete responsibility for our "little" boy. Jayden however, absoulutely loves this guy time and it allows for Lauren and I to tend to "girl" stuff here at home. I decided that I would share some of Jayden's duck camp moments for this particular post. Happy Thanksgiving!

Halloween 2009

Halloween this year was a lot of fun. Jayden was at an age where he knew exatcly what this holiday was all about. We started browsing through costume magazines in September and after changing his mind a few times he landed his eyes on the Robin costume. Robin, as in Batman's sidekick. Needless to say Robin was out of stock on this website as well as countless others....I finally ordered it from a website I came across and we left to go on vacation. While on Vacation I got an email stating they were "sorry" to cancel my order but thier distrubitor was of course out of stock. This of course occurs the week before Halloween (remember I started all this in Septemeber) So much for my preplanning. So,I bring my little four year old to the store thinking like most four year olds he will see a costume on the shelf and want it becuase "What four year old goes into a store and walks out empty handed?".... apparently mine. Jayden walked down the isle looking at costumes of every imaginable super hero and says "No Robin here let's go." Of course, I'm beginning to panic. So I visit a few more costume stores with no luck and turn my hunt back online. I go to Ebay and I find one ...in Hong Kong ....wont make it here in time. So after much surfing on the web I finally find a costume store that only sells super hero costumes. Im not taking any chances I wait until they open and call them to talk to someone in person. They have it in stock! I go to place the order she asks for his size and of course they are sold out of that size. I think okay well lets do the next size up, he will just get plenty of wear out of it. To end my little costume story. I will simply state that while I spent more in shipping than I did on the costume Jayden was a very happy Robin.
Now on to Lauren...I found Laurens costume in a magazine as well and thought it was adorable, a cute little leopard print cat with the brown and black feathers. I got online and search for it, placed the order, and it got here the very next day....weeks before Halloween. This was with just standard shipping... She was an adorable "kitty cat".
Trick or Treating was a lot of fun this year, we brought our golf cart and we were able to comb the streets twice as fast! Jayden was jumping off at each house before we could stop and by the 10th house or so Lauren had figured out that when you say Trick or Treat you really do get candy! Jayden vistied his first Haunted house this year and even took pictures with the actors inside. He and Alyssa had a great time playing at the after party at Mrs. Sarah's. They have the same sense of humor and each though thier jokes were terribly funny! Lauren's highlight of the night was finding the real cat and getting to pet it. They are growing so fast and we had such a great night with them. Now if only I knew what to do with all this candy????
